Gov. Bentley awards grants to curtail underage drinking

The Alabama chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving has received a grant from Gov. Robert Bentley to continue a program to prevent underage drinking, according to a press release from Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

Gov. Patrick proposes education grants for Fall River, Taunton

Gov. Deval Patrick is proposing a series of grants aimed at closing the achievement gap in the state’s Gateway Cities. The announcement, made Tuesday in advance of Patrick’s proposed budget release today, includes the potential for close to $10 million in grant funds to the 24 communities identified as Gateway Cities, which include Fall River, Taunton and New Bedford.
